About

Vicki Ehrlich, PsyD

Dr. Vicki Ehrlich

I am a highly experienced New York State licensed clinical psychologist with specialized doctoral and postdoctoral training in the evaluation and treatment of: adults, couples, parents, children, teenagers, and college students. My comprehensive training coupled with many years of professional experience have provided me with the skills to help patients find relief from feelings of anxiety and sadness as well as help them attain more fulfillment in their relationships, schooling, and careers.

I can help people feeling locked in place or struggling to help their children. I am continually inspired by seeing the dramatic changes that they make in their lives. I also provide clinical supervision for psychologists, social workers and other mental health professionals.

Clients seek help with perfectionism, procrastination, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and learning disabilities including ADHD. They seek relief from feelings of self-consciousness, emptiness, or to control distressing behaviors such as eating disorders including binge eating disorder, bulimia and anorexia, internet addiction, substance abuse and other addictions and compulsions. In addition to anxiety and depression, I am also trained in the evaluation and treatment of mood disorders including bipolar disorder.

Many individuals find renewed satisfaction in their relationships with family members, partners, and friends. They begin the process of repairing challenging relationships. Couples reach out to me for counseling prior to marriage, and during early and later stages of marriage. They turn to me during difficult life transitions such as a move, adjustment to college, new parenthood, separation and divorce, career exploration and changes, empty nesting, and retirement.

Parents consult me about children and teens with challenging temperaments, anxiety (including panic attacks and social anxiety) depression and other mood disorders. They seek help for children struggling with disordered eating, OCD, internet addiction, learning disorders including ADHD and peer difficulties.

I have years of experience working in an active and supportive manner to help adults, couples, parents and children of all ages explore and change self-defeating behavior patterns, gain confidence, and achieve more satisfying relationships.

I utilize an eclectic style of treatment, drawing on various aspects of interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, developmental and family systems theories to design an approach to treatment that works best for each individual or family and their particular concerns.

With couples I draw from a number of theoretical models and completed postdoctoral work in couples’ therapy. I am also certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method.

 Training and Experience

I earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from an APA accredited program at Einstein -The Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. This program spanned six years and focused on the evaluation and treatment of adults, children, families, and couples.

At Einstein, I conducted doctoral-level research on eating disorders, adjustment to retirement, parent-child relationships, children’s adjustment to divorce and school difficulties.

I have extensive experience in diverse clinical settings with both children and adults, including the Bronx VA Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital and St. Lukes- Roosevelt Hospital.  Prior to opening my private practice in Larchmont, I spent ten years at the Soifer Center for Learning and Child Development where I evaluated and treated children with learning disabilities and supervised doctoral-level psychologists. In addition to my private practice, I am currently an adjunct clinical professor at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology.

While I majored in psychology at Tufts University, prior to pursuing psychology as a career, I was a consultant at Booz Allen and Hamilton specializing in marketing. I also worked as a career counselor and earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Temple University prior to earning my doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

I have specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) in addition to relationship-oriented psychotherapy with individuals.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method which are practical and research-based approaches highly effective in working with both couples and family members.
